Testing begins on Delhi Metro’s Violet Line

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has revealed that trial runs have begun on the Violet Line extension to the town of Ballabgarh.

During tests, the clearance between trains and infrastructure will be checked and the signalling system, train brakes and the overhead lines will undergo rigorous testing.

In addition, the rolling stock will be tested at different speeds and communication systems with the operation control centre will be monitored.

The 3.2km section from Escorts Mujesar includes two new stations: NCB Colony and Ballabgarh.

After the opening of this extension, the entire Kashmere Gate–Ballabgarh Violet Line metro corridor will become 46.6km-long.

The section is set to open by the end of October, subject to the approval by the metro commissioner.
