Deutsche Bahn (DB) has awarded Vinci Construction Terrassement, a Vinci Group subsidiary, a €55 million contract for the new Stuttgart-Ulm high-speed line in Germany.
Lot 1.4 covers the construction of the section between Stuttgart Airport and the town of Wendlingen.
This stretch will take 24 months to build and includes 5.4km of earthworks and drainage, 7.5km of siding and the erection of 8,500 square meters of noise barriers.

Vinci said that around 100 people, 50 per cent of which will be from the local area, will be employed as a result of this contract.
This project is designed to relieve traffic congestion and upgrade the railway junction in Stuttgart by turning the city’s existing infrastructure into an underground pass-through railway station. This will cut journey times between Paris and Munich.
It is also part of plans to build a high-speed railway between Paris and Budapest.
