Kim Jong-il, North Korea’s leader, has died aged 69.

It is understood he suffered a heart attack aboard one of his luxury trains on Saturday whilst travelling to offer ‘field guidance’ to workers.

The death of North Korea’s ‘Dear Leader’ was announced by state media this morning.

Kim Jong-il was famously parodied in the film Team America.

KNCA reported that his death was due to ‘physical and mental over-work’.

In 2008 it is believed Kim Jong-Il suffered a stroke and was ‘gravely ill’ at the time.

Kim had a fear of flying and travelled by private armoured train for state visits to Russia and China.
