Network Rail will be showcasing plans to improve the rail network across the North at a series of exhibitions in Merseyside this month.

Network Rail’s vision for faster, more frequent rail services between the region’s main cities as well as plans to electrify the railway between Manchester, Liverpool, Huyton and Wigan will be on display for passenger and local communities to view and comment on.

Events are taking place at the following venues:

  • Thursday 3 November, St Helens Central station, 15:00 – 19:00
  • Tuesday 8 November, Huyton station, 15:00 – 19:00
  • Friday 11 November, Lime Street station, 07:00 – 09:30, 15:00 – 19:00
  • Saturday 12 November, Lime Street station, 10:00 – 17:00.

David Golding, Network Rail’s programme sponsor for north west electrification, said:

“Electrification presents a huge opportunity and is vital for Britain’s long-term, low-carbon economic growth.

“Electrifying key rail routes will deliver more reliable journeys for thousands of passengers with much needed additional capacity.

“We are keen to share our plans with the public and look forward to hearing their views.”

Further exhibitions across Wigan, Preston and Blackpool will be announced shortly.
