Hitachi has formally launched a new subsidiary, Hitachi Information Control Systems Europe, to lead its traffic management business.

Based in Bradford on Avon, the new organisation combines TRE, which was acquired by Hitachi in 2012, and Hitachi’s advanced traffic management and information control products business.

The company will provide “simulators, modelling and automatic route setting systems as well as supply, integration and support services for the traffic management systems”.

Hitachi Information Control Systems Europe will be involved in the delivery of a new traffic management system for Thameslink.

Tim Gray, who has been appointed as the company’s managing director, said: “We are pleased to enter a new phase of business growth under the Hitachi name.

“Hitachi’s reputation for quality and reliability is important and we look forward to collaborating with our industry partners in the increasingly digital railway.”
