Vossloh’s Citylink tram-trains have been certified by the German regulator to operate on the suburban rail network surrounding Karlsruhe.

Karlsruhe’s NET 2012 series vehicles will now be able to operate on lines S1/S11 between Hochstetten and Bad Herrenalb/Ittersbach.

Delivery of the new tram-trains began in May 2014. Having completed factory testing in Valencia, the vehicles have gradually been put into commercial service on the city’s light rail system.

Operator Verkehrsbetriebe Karlsruhe GmbH (VBK) has now exercised two options for a total of 50 additional Citylink LRVs to add to the 25 procured in 2011. All of the new low-floor vehicles should be delivered by summer 2017.
