Severn Valley Railway could gain a new station

Development of a 4 star hotel, conference centre and water park at the West Midland Safari Park could lead to a new station being constructed at the Severn Valley Railway, which runs alongside part of the park near Bewdley.

Owners of the popular animal park have suggested that a new Safari Park Halt is a ‘logical step’ in helping visitors reach the WMSP and the planned conference centre, which it is envisaged would be open all year round.

Visitors arriving via the Severn Valley Railway would then be transferred to the conference centre by monorail.

The Severn Valley Railway is a heritage railway in Shropshire and Worcestershire, England.

The 26 km line runs along the Severn Valley from Bridgnorth to Kidderminster, following the course of the River Severn for much of its route. Train services are hauled predominantly by steam locomotives; however diesel traction is also sometimes used.

The railway is one of the most popular heritage railways in the country. It hosts numerous special events throughout the year, including both steam and diesel galas.
