Daniel Pyke, former marketing manager for rail products at British Steel, has joined the multinational Kloeckner group as business development manager, focussing on growing its UK rail sector.

In his former role, Daniel promoted problem-solving rail products to railway infrastructure owners around the world. He will now use his railway expertise and technical materials background to grow the railway portfolio for Kloeckner, one of the largest independent multi-metals distributers and processing solutions providers.

Supported by a team of product and processing experts, Daniel will be matching business capabilities to railway opportunities to deliver value to the customers supply chain.

Commenting on his new role, Daniel Pyke said: “The range of products, processes and digital procurement solutions are well aligned with areas of demands of both railway infrastructure and rollingstock markets. I see great partnership opportunities on a wide range of projects.”

Recruited entirely virtually during the lockdown period, the ‘digital-first’ ethos of Kloeckner has proved a welcome antidote for Dan from the challenging business environment that COVID has brought in recent months.

Barrie Salter, director of Kloeckner Metals UK, added: “I’m delighted that Dan has joined us. He brings a wealth of understanding and knowledge of the railway industry and he will be a great addition to our business development team.”
