National Rail Enquiries introduces updates by e-mail or Twitter

Rail passengers can now receive free updates by e-mail or Twitter about any delays or cancellations to their trains thanks to a new service being introduced by National Rail Enquiries (NRE).

By going to the NRE website, people can sign up for alerts to get latest information about their train service and will be alerted if there is any disruption that will affect their journey.

For example, commuters can sign up to receive updates for 12 weeks at a time on any disruption which may affect their daily journey, simply by filling in a few boxes on the NRE website.

NRE has run a similar text alert service since 2008, which received excellent customer feedback.

Chris Scoggins, Chief Executive of NRE said: “The new e-mail and Twitter alerts are a quick, easy and free way to find out if your train is delayed or cancelled. Simply sign up for the alerts on the website and you’ll be updated regularly if there is any disruption affecting your service.

“A similar text messaging alert system has proved popular with thousands of customers. Now people will have the chance to receive updates through a whole range of different channels – text, e-mail and twitter.”

To receive the free updates visit the NRE website.
